This service was SO helpful as I helped my son try to figure out where to apply. It gave him great confidence in some of his safety schools, and let him know he was in the ballpark on most of his others. I found it to be an invaluable tool as I've helped my kids navigate a very confusing process! I couldn't have done it without Go4College!

About Johns Hopkins University

Johns Hopkins University is a private institution that was founded in 1876 from a philanthropic bequest of $7 million from a man named Johns Hopkins. A portion of the donation also founded the Johns Hopkins Hospital. The university was the first American research university and the first American university to teach through seminars, instead of solely through lectures.

Johns Hopkins is located in Baltimore, a location which has a small city feel with the amenities of a major urban center. Hopkins is located in Charles Village, a largely residential neighborhood of traditional row houses and a village center with restaurants and shops. The Inner Harbor, which offers everything from fine dining to tourist attractions, is a short taxi ride away.

Johns Hopkins University consists of 8 academic divisions: Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Peabody Conservatory of Music, School of Medicine, School of Public Health, School of Nursing, School of Professional Studies in Business and Education, and the School of Advanced International Studies. The university offers undergraduates 49 majors and 38 minors. Class sizes are generally small; 25% of undergraduate classes have fewer than 10 students and 26% of classes have fewer than 20 students.

The university is particularly regarded for its hospital and schools of medicine and international studies. Johns Hopkins offers undergraduate degrees at the Peabody Conservatory and the School of Nursing. Through collaborations with its graduate schools and international partners, undergraduate majors in areas such as public health or international studies can cross-register or apply for accelerated programs through the Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine or SAIS's Bologna Center in Italy and Sciences in Paris. This unique experience promotes research opportunities among undergraduates with leading researchers in their respective fields, a rarity among other graduate-focused research institutions.
